Soplicowo, an idyllic, almost perfect place, with imperfect people. The place where Mickiewicz spent his childhood, where disputes are solved at the table, and the most heinous murder is forgiven in the name of brotherhood.

We see Poles eating, drinking, gathering mushrooms, courting each other, all the while waiting for the French to come and restore their homeland. Who were we as a nation? Who are we today? In this show, it is the artists who are given the floor. How to act, how to create in oppressive times? The myth of exile, longing, dying for one’s homeland – what value does it have today? What drives our patriotism? What even is patriotism these days? Are we able to speak with a single voice? The authors of the play, focusing on these and other wide-ranging themes, and referring to the works of Adam Mickiewicz in a tragicomic way, take a jab at the reality of today. Let us love each other! We see Poles eating, drinking, gathering mushrooms, courting each other, all the while waiting for the French to come and restore their homeland. Who were we as a nation?
